As one of the oldest towns in Texas, Montgomery offers true Texas living, bridging history with modern lifestyle. In fact, many believe Montgomery was the birthplace of the Texas flag. The 19th Century Historic Downtown District hosts community events while residents also enjoy fine retail shops, restaurants, and beautiful historical parks.
In the Downtown District, Fernland Historical park is a unique hands-on educational park, bringing samples of early Texas architecture together with examples of early Texas life. The log homes and cabins presented within the park are some of the oldest remaining structures within Texas.
Despite its relatively small footprint of two square miles, more than 55,000 people in the surrounding communities consider themselves residents of the historic town of Montgomery. Many large sub-divisions call Montgomery home, including Woodforest, April Sound, Bentwater, Buffalo Springs, Del Lago, Grand Harbor, and Walden.
